In the words of Lorenzo Santos, Product Manager at ConsenSys, “This integration with PayPal will allow our US users to not just buy crypto seamlessly through MetaMask, but also to easily explore the Web3 ecosystem.”
MetaMask partnered with PayPal to allow select US-based clients to purchase Ethereum (ETH) assets using their PayPal accounts.
The PayPal integration will only be available on MetaMask’s mobile app. It will also allow users to seamlessly send Ethereum assets from PayPal to their self-custodial MetaMask wallets.
ConsenSys, MetaMask’s parent company, noted this partnership will provide clients with an easy and convenient way to buy ETH tokens.
“MetaMask will be the first Web3 wallet to leverage PayPal to drive more successful on-ramp transactions.”
MetaMask and PayPal will make this feature available to all eligible users residing in the US in the coming weeks.
This is not PayPal’s first venture into the crypto industry. Earlier this summer, the multinational fintech firm rolled out support for Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin. PayPal recently announced its plans to extend crypto services to customers residing in Luxembourg.
