Sunpump, the latest memecoin deployer on the Tron Network, has surpassed its Solana-based counterpart, Pump.fun, in both daily activity and revenue.
On August 21, blockchain researcher Adam Tehc highlighted this development in a post on X, noting that Sunpump had outperformed Pump.fun in key metrics. According to Tehc, "revenue and the number of new tokens created on Sunpump closed the day higher" compared to Pump.fun.
Dune Analytics data revealed that Sunpump saw the creation of 7,351 tokens and generated $585,000 in revenue over the last 24 hours. In contrast, Pump.fun had only 6,701 new tokens launched, with a revenue of $366,000 during the same period.
This surge in activity comes just 12 days after Sunpump's launch on August 9. Since its inception, the platform has generated over $1.5 million in revenue and facilitated the creation of more than 25,000 new memecoins.
Several tokens on Sunpump have achieved significant valuations. For instance, one trader managed to turn $1,000 into $750,000 by trading a token called SunWukong. Another memecoin, SunDog, reached a valuation as high as $270 million.
The growing popularity of Sunpump has positively impacted the Tron network, which recorded $3.48 million in revenue over the last 24 hours, matching its revenue from the previous day, according to DefiLlama.
Tron's success with the new memecoin deployer has been further bolstered by the Meme Ecosystem Boost Incentive Program, which saw a $10 million injection from Tron founder Justin Sun. Additionally, Tether minted an extra 1 billion USDT on the Tron blockchain on August 20.
Despite criticism of memecoins as being "destructive" to the crypto industry, Sun remains optimistic. In an August 20 post on X, he stated,
"When every dev can build a community through a fair launch, gain everyone’s support, and foster enthusiasm and loyalty, the community can share in the success of the cryptocurrency."
