The official announcement stated, “Our decision to delve into the dynamic Canadian crypto landscape was informed by a myriad of compelling factors. Ranked as the world's third-most crypto-aware nation, Canada boasts an enthusiastic local tech ecosystem.”
Crypto exchange Coinbase has officially entered the Canadian market after integrating Interac payment rails into its platform.
In its blog post, Coinbase noted the new payment lines will allow Canadian clients to seamlessly deposit, withdraw and purchase assets using Canadian Dollars (CAD).
Coinbase users who reside in Canada also get a free 30-day trial period to test Coinbase One, a subscription-based service built around staking. Users who avail of the free trial can enjoy zero-fee trading and earn up to 6.94% APY on their staked tokens.
Calling the nation a “global cryptoeconomy leader,” Coinbase praised Canada for its pro-crypto stance and robust regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies.
Meanwhile, rival exchanges Binance and Bybit were forced to retreat from Canada after authorities tightened the regulations for crypto platforms operating in the nation.
