The Human Rights Foundation allocated $325K from its Bitcoin Development Fund to support eight Bitcoin projects as part of its Q3 2022 donations. The non-profit firm previously granted 5 BTC to over 30 developers in April 2022.

HRF's latest donation aims to improve open-source exchanges, Bitcoin core development, and crypto media coverage, among others.

The complete list of recipients is as follows:

  • HRF granted $100K to BTCPay, a self-hosted open source crypto payment processor that boasts censorship resistance and high security as its features.
  • $50K was sent to Jon Atack, a core developer ranked #10 among Bitcoin Core contributors and is responsible for merging over 600 commits into Bitcoin Core. HRF claims the funds will help the developer discover bugs and test fixes on Bitcoin's ecosystem.
  • Additionally, the firm granted $50K to support John Kitman's contributions to the e-cash prototype, Fedimint.
  • HRF also allocated $25K to RoboSats, a Bitcoin P2P exchange, to allow Bitcoin community members to privately trade BTC assets using its lightning network.
  • Moreover, the organization gave two rounds of $25K to support Leigh Cuen's upcoming Bitcoin non-profit donation guide and to help Novaya Gazeta, a media outlet that was recently banned from operating within Russia.
  • Keith Mukai also received $25K for creating SeedSigner, a DIY Bitcoin signing device.
  • HRF allocated the remaining $25K to the non-profit Bitcoin R&D center, Vinteum.

Lastly, Alex Gladstein, the Chief Strategy Officer at HRF, revealed that the firm would announce its Q4 2022 donation recipients around the end of the year.
