Celsius’ latest filing reads: “[Celsius] seeks to establish 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on December 13, 2022 as the deadline by which all persons and entities must submit proofs of claim asserting claims that arose on or before the Petition Date against [it] in these chapter 11 cases.”
Bankrupt crypto lender Celsius requested the Court to set the deadline for its clients to submit their proof-of-claim forms on December 13.
The news came a few days after Celsius caused an uproar by leaking transaction records and wallet addresses of its users in bankruptcy filings.
As per Celsius’ Tweet, it filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to set a deadline for users to submit their proof of claims on Stretto.
It is worth noting that users who agree with Celsius’ records in its court filings do not need to submit the claims form.
Only clients whose claims are marked as “contingent,” “disputed” and “unliquidated” should submit their claims. This includes users who disagree with the data disclosed by Celsius.
Celsius’ blog post claims users will receive a confirmation email after submitting their forms.
If the Court approves Celsius’ request, the latter will start validating users’ claims after December 13. The accepted claims will receive payments as per Celsius’ Chapter 11 Plan.
The Court hearing for this motion will occur remotely via Zoom on November 1.
