Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong unveiled his vision for transforming the exchange into a global super app at the State of Crypto Summit event in New York.

In his speech, Armstrong referenced Tencent’s WeChat, an application that offers messaging and e-commerce facilities alongside financial services.

He disclosed that Coinbase will eventually integrate support for NFTs, social media, and other services to enhance the Web3 economy. The CEO of Coinbase also declared that the exchange will resemble the likes of Alipay, another super app, after five to seven years.

Armstrong made these statements after months of conflict between the SEC and Coinbase. Earlier this month, the court instructed the SEC to respond to Coinbase’s rule-making petition. However, the regulatory agency stated that it has not yet reached a decision on the petition and postponed the resolution until October.
