According to the statement released by OKX, “There is currently an intermittent connection error with our cloud provider which is affecting the user experience. Our dev team is resolving it with them.”
Crypto exchange OKX halted withdrawals due to an equipment failure in Alibaba Cloud’s Hong Kong server.
Alibaba Cloud's HK Zone C server was affected by a refrigeration equipment anomaly on Saturday, causing a partial outage in OKX’s deposit and withdrawal processes.
OKX users claimed the exchange stopped processing their deposit and withdrawal requests following the hardware failure at Alibaba Cloud. Data from EthereumScan backed their claims by revealing that the last withdrawal on OKX occurred at 2:47 AM UTC on Sunday.
A few of its users also mentioned that the OKX app displayed their account balance as zero.
OKX soon confirmed the existence of the hardware failure at Alibaba Cloud on Twitter. The crypto exchange added its dev team is working with its cloud service provider to resolve the issue. Star Xu, the Founder of OKX, claimed this incident will become a “major scandal in the history of Alibaba Cloud.”
As per the latest update, Alibaba has finished fixing the equipment failure in its Hong Kong server. However, Alibaba Cloud’s services have not fully resumed as of writing. OKX announced it will initiate a “pre-open procedure” whereby users can manage their margin orders once Alibaba’s servers are back online.
