Kraken hired Blair Halliday, Gemini's (former) U.K. Managing Director (MD), as its U.K. head.
The announcement came a few weeks after Jesse Powell stepped down from his position as the CEO of Kraken.
Blair Halliday joined Gemini as the firm's Chief Compliance Officer of Europe. In July 2020, he began overseeing its U.K. operations as MD. According to Gemini’s spokesperson, Stephanie Ramezan will replace Halliday as the MD following the latter's appointment in Kraken.
Halliday will now be responsible for managing Kraken’s political, commercial and regulatory relationships in the U.K. region.
Kraken deems the U.K. as a key market for the exchange. It is worth noting that Kraken’s subsidiaries, Crypto Facilities and Payward, are responsible for regulating it in the U.K.
Meanwhile, Kraken's previous MD, Curtis Ting, will oversee the exchange's operations in multiple regions as its Global Senior Managing Director.
