In a Twitter post by Algorand, “JUST IN: @FIFAPlusCollect powered by #Algorand will launch later this month, providing football fans around the world with an opportunity to own the greatest game moments from @FIFAWorldCup and @FIFAWWC.”

Soccer governing body, FIFA, has announced its partnership with Algorand to launch an NFT collectible platform with the 2022 World Cup only a few months away. The platform will be called FIFA+ Collect.

The Proof-of-Stake (PoS) platform, Algorand, has been making waves since this year, and this is another huge milestone for them.

They made this announcement earlier on their Twitter page;

“JUST IN: @FIFAPlusCollect powered by #Algorand will launch later this month, providing football fans around the world with an opportunity to own the greatest game moments from @FIFAWorldCup and @FIFAWWC.”

FIFA+ Collect will take an approach similar to NBA Top Shot, meaning that FIFA will take advantage of big in-game moments and pair them with arts and imagery.

The FIFA+ Collect platform is set to launch later this month, and it aims to be affordable, inclusive, and accessible to every football fan.

In a statement by Romy Gai, FIFA Chief Business Officer;

“This exciting announcement makes FIFA collectibles available to any football fan, democratizing the ability to own a part of the FIFA World Cup. Just like sports memorabilia and stickers, this is an accessible opportunity for fans around the world to engage with their favorite players, moments, and more on new platforms.”

Details on the collections that will be included in the launch will be released soon enough as well as teasers on the different NFTs that will be released during World Cup.

It is worth knowing that Algorand secured this deal in May, and this is one of their most significant partnership deals to date. This partnership also extends to the Women’s World Cup, which will take place next year. Hence, this will help the FIFA+ Collect NFT platform gather more momentum.
